Nike introduces the Dark Lightning Pack, a collection of football boots featuring a black upper, a white Swoosh and a pop of bright colors on each of all four Nike Football silos — Mercurial, Hypervenom, Magista and Tiempo. The NikeFootballX versions all feature a black Swoosh.
The new pack will be available in cleated versions, including Nike Anti-Clog Traction boots, as well as NikeFootballX small-sided models beginning November 25th.
If there is one thing Italian legend Andrea Pirlo obsesses as much as football, it’s winemaking. Pirlo’s history with wine goes back to his childhood in Flero, where he spent a lot of time harvesting grapes at local vineyards. His passion for fine wine led Pirlo and his family to open a winery called Pratum Coller. To celebrate Pirlo’s dual careers as a footballer and winemaker, Nike Football has crafted a limited edition Tiempo Pirlo.
The boot’s upper features premium Alegria leather in a merlot colorway inspired by the juice of the grape. Similar to Pratum Coller’s logo, four gold stars appear on the boot’s heel counter and plate to honor Italy’s World Cup titles. The Italian flag is also featured on the lace aglet.
As a nod to Tiempo’s heritage and the process of producing wine, Aged Since ’94 appears in metallic gold on a genuine cork sockliner and also on the polka dot shoebox. The boots are packaged similar to a bottle of wine and include an additional performance sockliner.
Limited edition Tiempo Pirlo will be available September 19 via the Nike Football App and nike.com.
For over 20 years, Tiempo has been synonymous with premium leather football boots. The new Tiempo Legend 6 builds upon that legacy with innovative craftsmanship for dominant touch. “Tiempo players start the attack,” says Nike Football Designer Vianney de Montgolfier. “We prioritize the touch and precision they depend on. With Tiempo Legend 6, we challenged ourselves to work with legendary materials in a new way.”
VIANNEY DE MONTGOLFIER’S DESIGN SKETCHES
Historically, Tiempo boots have featured a quilted leather toe box. For Tiempo Legend 6, Nike sought to provide the touch attributes of quilting, without extensively perforating the leather. The new boot features an internal, cushioned cage that holds its shape and grooves the leather with minimal stitching.
“With this new construction, Tiempo Legend 6 delivers the feel of quilting, but without compromising the leather,” continues de Montgolfier. “The foam backer has been vacuum pressed to the leather to ensure a soft, seamless construction. By eliminating quilting, we reduce the possibility of mud or water seeping in through the quilt lines, as that can harden the leather.”
Another iconic element of Tiempo, the tongue, has also been modernized for performance. Tiempo Legend 6 retains the silhouette’s traditional tongue aesthetic while moving to a protective, affixed one-piece solution that is integrated into the laces. The boot features an internal mid-foot cage, molded heel and microfiber sockliner to help keep the foot in place. The sockliner also has traction on its underside that aligns with silicon pods on the base of the boot, part of Tiempo Legend 6’s plate-to-sockliner, sockliner-to-sock traction system. The medial side of the boot is slightly higher than the lateral, to align with the anatomy of the ankle. This detail is noted by a small Swoosh inside the medial side.
The heel counter of the Tiempo is designed for ultimate lockdown comfort. As a nod to the boot’s heritage, “Tiempo” is written boldly across the back of the heel. The primary Swooshes on the boot nearly wraparound, but do not touch. The upper is premium leather, noted by a small emblem where the leather meets the heel counter, and features All Conditions Control (ACC).
“Tiempo Legend 6 is a modern classic,” concludes de Montgolfier. “The boot merges the materials and aesthetic of an icon with the innovative craftsmanship of today.”
Tiempo Legend 6 will be available via the Nike Football App on November 29 and on Nike.com December 1. The boots will be available for NIKEiD customization beginning November 30th via the Nike Football App, December 1 on Nike.com.
