Adidas | Chance To Design The Third Jersey For Some Of The World’s Biggest Football Clubs



adidas has today launched an initiative giving football fans around the world a unique Chance To Design The Third Jersey For Some Of The World’s Biggest Football Clubs.

Called the Creator Studio, the digital platform will give fans the chance to be responsible for the third shirts that will be worn by some of the best players in the world at Real Madrid, FC Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Juventus, AC Milan and Flamengo.

Fans will be able to upload and share their design online with their community through the Creator Studio, and use it as a platform to campaign for votes. Once the designs have been submitted the kits will enter Battle Mode, where fans will be given the chance to vote for their favourite kit. The kits with the most likes will be entered into a top 100 gallery per club.

The winning shirt for each team will be decided by a judging panel of some of the clubs’ most iconic players, with the winning kits going into production as the official third jersey to be worn on pitch by each team during the 2017/18 season.

Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale, said of the Creator Studio: “It’s an amazing opportunity for fans from all over the world to make their mark on their favourite club, and to be a part of the club’s history. Madrid fans are some of the most passionate in the world and I’m particularly excited to see what the club’s winning kit design looks like.”

This is the first time that adidas has put the design of its clubs’ kits into the hands of fans, providing supporters and aspiring designers with an opportunity to be a part of sporting history.

The Creator Studio is an opportunity for fans to become part of the history of some of the biggest global clubs; it’s a true first. We hope the idea of seeing their design on field next year, being worn by the players and by fans around the world, will fuel imagination and creativity.”

The Creator Studio is a mobile-optimised experience, allowing fans to submit designs on the go as well as from desktop computers. The digital experience allows creators to design the jersey of each club but excludes the shorts or socks.

ADIDAS has today launched a Real Madrid special, as part of its new First Never Follows film series. A number of players from Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League winning squad feature in the film, alongside manager Zinedine Zidane, as they shut down criticism off the pitch by performing on it.

The series – featuring bespoke films of some of the biggest clubs, players and managers in the world – provides a defiant response from a series of star players to the feverous gossip, debate and hype that surrounds each club in the build-up to the start of the 2016/17 season.

The film shows the squad, who made history in last season’s UEFA Champions League with la Undecima, arriving at a game amidst the clamour of hostile fans. Rather than confronting the ‘blah, blah blah’ off the pitch, the players let their performance on-pitch speak for itself, with Bale and Benzema teaming up to silence the hostile fans with a breath-taking goal, complete with Bale’s trademark ‘Road Runner’ feats on the way.


In the film, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Marcelo and James Rodriguez wear the new third kit for the coming season, as well as the new Speed of Light boots – the ACE 16+ PURECONTROL in Solar Yellow and X16+ PURECHAOS in Solar Red – which will be worn on pitch for the first time in the UEFA Super Cup on 9th August and for the start of the 2016/17 season.

The new Real Madrid third kit is a black colourway with purple accents. The design on the shoulders represents the road from the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium to the fountain of Cibeles, which the club’s passionate fan base will recognise well as the traditional victory route taken by the team to celebrate a trophy win. The Undecima coat of arms on the shirt celebrates the fact that Real Madrid was the first club to lift the UEFA Champions League eleven times.

Adidas is set to officially reveal the third kits for six of the leading dynasties in European football: Manchester United, Real Madrid, FC Bayern Munich, Chelsea FC, Juventus and AC Milan at the #BETHEDIFFERENCE World Final in Marseille.

The six European giants will each bring two of their top players to reveal their new ‘spark in the night’ third kits. All the kits incorporate unique references to the heritage, fans and cities of these great clubs, who between them have won an incredible 28 UEFA Champions League trophies.

Electronic Arts and Real Madrid C.F. today announced that they have signed a three year partnership that will see EA SPORTS™ become the exclusive and official videogame partner of one of the world’s most popular football clubs.

As part of the partnership, EA SPORTS FIFA 16 will include updated 3D head scans of fourteen of Real Madrid’s most popular players. New player likeness for Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, James Rodriguez, Luka Modrić, Karim Benzema, and others will enhance the authenticity of the FIFA franchise. In addition, fans can expect to see EA SPORTS content in the stadium and on Real Madrid’s digital channels.

We’re getting extremely excited about the Champions League Final between Juventus and Barcelona on the 06/06/2015 in Berlin, Germany.

So with that in mind we’ve decided to fill you in with some much need knowledge on the Champions League Trophy!

Current holders Real Madrid are out and they leave behind the beautiful Champions League trophy, which stands 73.5cm tall and weighs 7.5kg, is the sixth overall and dates back to 2006. 

A rule introduced in the 1968/69 season allowed the cup to become the property of any club which won the competition five times or three years in a row. That means Real Madrid CF, AFC Ajax, FC Bayern München, AC Milan and, since 2005, Liverpool FC all have an original in their trophy rooms. Under new regulations, any club which wins the trophy three consecutive times or five times in total receives a special mark of recognition, with the club then starting a new cycle from zero.



After Real Madrid were allowed to keep the original in 1967, UEFA’s General Secretary, Hans Bangerter, decided to create a new design and called in a local specialist in Berne, Jürg Stadelmann.

“My father Hans and I went along to Herr Bangerter’s office and covered the whole floor with the drawings,” recalled Stadelmann. “He made comments like, ‘The Bulgarians would like the bottom of that. The Spaniards would like that, but the Italians would prefer that and the Germans would go for this bit.’ We put the design together like a jigsaw puzzle. It was a design constituted of many parts yet I like it and I think everyone in football likes it as well.



“I remember that it had to be finished before 28 March,” Stadelmann added, “because I was getting married and taking my wife on a ten-day boat trip to Los Angeles. The trophy took 340 hours to make. I did the finer work, then it was finished off by the engraver, Fred Bänninger. On time, I am glad to say.”

“It may not be an artistic masterpiece,” said the maker of the trophy, “but everybody in football is keen to get their hands on it.”

Real Madrid will wear the recently released adidas third kit and new adidas F50 adiZero boots in tonight’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Ludogorets. Stars including Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Benzema and new signings James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos will wear the all-black kit as Madrid attempt to become the first team ever to retain the UEFA Champions League.



The striking new kit has been designed by Japanese design revolutionary and long term adidas collaborator Yohji Yamamoto, bringing together a global design legend with one of the biggest football clubs in the world. The design collaboration aims to unify the values of Madridismo focused on its two main elements, greatness and determination. Both elements are represented by two mythical beasts which originate from the Eastern culture and are interlaced on the front of the shirt.

  • Dragon bird, an animal that is able to relive in the most hostile situations, represents the clubs resistance, determination and agility on its way to the victory 

The kit is produced in black, Yamamoto’s favourite colour, with white details which contributes to a timeless and elegant look. Following the design of the home and away kit, the shirt is crowned by a mao type collar, a two-colour crest and the signature of the Japanese designer. Furthermore, the kit is equipped with the innovative adizero™ technology that ensures maximum performance for the players. The ultra-light fabric enhances breathability while allowing unparalleled freedom of movement and comfort without compromising elasticity and durability.

In addition to the adizero version of the kit worn by the players on pitch, a special edition collaboration will be available in very limited quantities. 1500 jerseys will be available on selected retailers worldwide and will come in an exclusive packaging (1200 PCS in handmade commemorative box and 300 PCS with an exclusive dragon egg packaging). The exclusive jerseys themselves bear the Yohji Yamamoto’s personal signature and the number 3 representing the iconic three stripes of adidas.

Also released today is the latest limited edition Yohji Yamamoto adizero f50 boot. Following the success of last year’s launch of the Yamamoto adizero f50 boot which drew inspiration from Japanese imperial lion-dogs, the new boots come in a striking blue and green colourway. The traditional design has been placed in the context of Japan’s modern sci-fi culture creating a spiritual connection between the past and the future.



The Yohji Yamamoto designed Real Madrid third kit will be worn by the team on pitch in the new Uefa Champions League season.
