The all new Adidas PrimeKnit 2.0
Adidas can boast the ‘worlds first knitted boot’ with the original PrimeKnit FS.
Something we were very much sceptical about at first. Was it a clever trick by Adidas to upstage all rivals with a ‘first in class’ technology? A prototype that we would never see on store shelves?
Of Course Not!
The first released PrimeKnit Samba debuted by Luis Suarez made headlines worldwide for all the right reasons! Proclaimed as the best fitting boot ever made!
Of course with any new technologies/concepts there was a couple of hiccups, one of which was boot shape retention and water proofing.
All of which had been noted and corrected by Adidas with the latest release the PrimeKnit 2.0.
So here’s the techie bit!
The PrimeKnit 2.0 comes with “compression fit” technology and includes an all-new compression tongue with Lyrcra yarns wrapping around the midfoot. The heel shape and design provide optimum support following the natural shape of the back of the foot.
The forefoot contains a knit structure specifically designed to aid control. The control knit structure offers 3D texture that combines ultimate ball control with unrivalled manoeuvrability and traction by way of the f50 adizero outsole.
The “outer shell” of the Primeknit 2.0 comprises of a zoned knitted upper with a lightweight vacuum coated skin to protect the yarns and retain a soft surface, meaning the boot is at home in any weather, on any pitch. This solves any issue with water retention and even controls boot shape.
The PrimeKnit 2.0 is the latest boot to be released as past of the “Limited Collection” following the release of the recent adizero 99g, the lightest boot of all time!
The first time we’ll see these grace hollowed turf will be the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final second legs later this week. Our guess is that Mr. Suarez will be a dead cert to wear them!
The Primeknit 2.0 will be available from the 22nd of April at selected online stockists for €300/£250 and although classed as “Limited Collection” Adidas plan to release 10,000. Yes 10,000! Not the most limited edition ever released!
We very much doubt they plan to number each pair!
That been said we’re extremely excited to see these in action and no doubt Mr. Suarez will hit the back of the net with another boot debut goal!
