“The Hunt is On” with the Furon Apex
New Balance Football has officially unveiled the Furon Apex Limited Edition boot. The Furon Apex draws inspiration from the Peregrine Falcon, regarded as the fastest animal on the planet. This Falcon is recorded at travelling at speeds of over 200mph, and with its key characteristics being speed and agility; it perfectly encapsulates a Furon player’s approach to using their rapid pace to define the outcome of the game.
With stunning aesthetics and the latest in speed boot technology, the Furon Apex Limited Edition will be a popular choice with boot collectors and is ideal for players who base their game around speed, agility and deadly finishing.
General Manager of New Balance Football Richard Wright said, “Throughout the design and development process of Furon Apex we were able to take a step forward specifically in terms of creativity and produce a one of a kind colourway. The design team have done a fantastic job in creating a look that personifies the Furon and we cannot wait to see the players wearing the boots on the pitch.”
The Furon Apex Limited Edition boot will be on sale from 15th September from selected retailers worldwide and online at www.newbalance.com/football or www.newbalance.co.uk/football
BOOT CLOSE UP | ADIDAS adizero 99g
adidas have once again showcased its on-going commitment to industry leading product innovation with the launch of a limited edition update of the adidas adizero 99g, the world’s lightest football boot.
At around half the weight of a regular football boot, the adizero 99g boot features a 1mm polyamide outsole, designed to reduce weight whilst maintaining the rigidity to perform at the highest level, and advanced lightweight one-layer PU mesh-based upper material. The boot also features a skeleton inner-construction to maintain stability and support, whilst a unique stud layout ensures fastest possible movements in all directions.
Initially launched in 2015, the adizero 99g has been created in adidas’ adizero speed range and rigorously tested for tear strength and abrasions.
299 pairs of the limited edition boot are available to purchase from 3rd Aug 2016.
One obvious blunder by Adidas is sending us images showing Limited Edition to 1/500 clearly contradicting the 299 release on launch day.
ADIDAS Copa SL ‘Limited Edition’
Adidas has given a revamp to the iconic Copa Mundial with a modern SL revamp with only a very ‘Limited Edition’ release. Fans fearing the end of arguably the greatest boot of all time can rest assured. The Copa Mundial will NOT be replaced!
We take a close up look at the Copa SL and give you an insight into how Adidas have created an SL version of the beautiful Mundial!
Updated with superlightweight details, the SL is for footballers who require modern performance but want a heritage look. Made with a comfortable synthetic upper and featuring an oversize Copa-inspired tongue. With a durable firm ground outsole.
With a lightweight synthetic upper for comfort and soft feel with a synthetic lining for comfort added with clever superlightweight detailing. Adidas have stayed true to tradition with a modern update of the oversized tongue, complete with an outsole designed for firm and artificial ground. The SL offers all what was great with the Mundial but with a modern superlight upgrade!
Adidas have only offered a limited edition release and already most have been snatched up already. This will no doubt become a future collectors item and hold it’s own in a boot collection.
So it’s a special welcome to the 21st century for the Copa!
We’re loving the release and how Adidas have celebrated all that’s special with the Copa Mundial. However, we’re slightly disappointed that the RRP€ for the release is €240, considering the boot is made from arguably cheaper synthetic materials. We reckon a slightly cheaper price would have been more approiate considering this is a boot for the true Adidas fan and collector.
Then again, €240 for a limited edition boot designed around the iconic Copa Mundial is not something that happens every year…

Gibraltar, the tiny nation who have finally been UEFA approved played their first ever competitive match against Poland.
After the match we got talking with some Q&A’s to right winger Lee Casciaro and his stylish choice of footwear!
We believe that Lee was the first player to wear the Adidas Predator Accelerator’s in a competitive International match! Nice stat!
Lee Casciaro Q&A
Name: Lee Casciaro
Club: Lincoln Red Imps Gibraltar
International Caps: More than 100 before getting into Uefa, 1 since getting into Uefa!
BootAdvisor: Gibraltar created history by appearing in their first ever game in the European Qualifiers. Tell us about this historic moment for your country and the excitement surrounding it!
Lee: Becoming the 54th nation to join Uefa has meant a great deal for our country, the day we were accepted felt somewhat surreal for most Gibraltarians’ seeing as we’ve spent endless years fighting for this moment. This opportunity will be used as a learning curve for current senior football players but will without doubt open doors for the upcoming generation.
As to myself, standing on that pitch this past Sunday was extremely emotional as I had my doubts whether I would return to play football for the national team after having torn my ACL 10 months ago. Therefore, representing my country as well as being able to play alongside both my brothers was very special and can state that it was the proudest moment in my football career to date.
BootAdvisor: You wore the famous Adidas Predator Instinct Accelerators, limited edition to only 1825! We think you were the first player to wear them in a competitive International match! You’re a fan!??
Lee: Indeed I am, I was on the hunt trying to get my hands on them as I owned a pair years back and have always been my favorite.
BootAdvisor: OK, describe yourself in 5 Words!
Lee: Energetic, committed, sociable, confident and loyal.
BootAdvisor: Best player you’ve played with?
Lee: My brothers Kyle and Ryan.
BootAdvisor: Best player you’ve played against?
Lee: Robert Lewandowski
BootAdvisor: Best stadium you’ve played in?
Lee: Estadio de Algarve
BootAdvisor: Team you supported as a child?
Lee: Manchester United.
BootAdvisor: Nike or Adidas?
BootAdvisor: Best pair of boots you’ve owned!
Lee: All the Adidas predator’s.
BootAdvisor: Least favourite boots you’ve owned!
Lee: Pantofola d’Oro because the boots slit open on the side the first time I ever used them.
BootAdvisor: Best advise when picking your boots?
Lee: Make sure you wear the pair and have a walk around before you purchase the boots as the style and shape may not tally with your foot, comfort is key.
We wish Lee and all his Gibraltar team mates the very best of luck for the remaining European Qualifiers.
