As Battlefield™ 1 is rolling out worldwide, I’m looking back on a journey that started with a daring pitch from the team here at DICE. Fast forward a few years, and it’s almost surreal to see you getting your hands on the final result, facing the dawn of all-out war with the rest of the community.
With Battlefield 1, we wanted to create a fresh new take on the franchise, keeping that classic and unmistakable flavor that is Battlefield intact. It was a gamble. We knew that.
But with such a unique game setting like the Great War, many unique gameplay options came with it. Judging from your reactions (not to mention how much fun we’ve had with the game ourselves) I dare say the gamble has paid off.
Nothing fills me more with joy than hearing your stories from the game – how you won that dog fight, found that weapon pickup, or turned that round of Conquest around at the last minute. I look forward to many more stories of that kind.

We’re knee deep in the trenches playing this wonderfully created masterpiece! We love it! From the detailing of every weapon to the way you’re educated on the basic skills and controls of the game. EA brought together the best to create something very special.
Following the recent launch of Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst we decided to give it a go! Available as a digital download on Xbox One, Origin™ for PC, and PlayStation 4 and all good/bad gaming retail stores!

The game invites you to step into the shoes of Faith – a self-assured Runner thrown into a struggle against the oppressive Conglomerate in the city of Glass. Explore Glass from the beautifully lit rooftops to the dark and gritty tunnels below. Run free in the city districts with Faith at the centre of it all. Through the first-person perspective, use your fluid movement and combat skills to master the environment and become the catalyst of change. Sounds complex, right?!
Faith has been away for nearly eight years in the development, and while this continuation doesn’t feel as fresh or innovative as the original, there’s still a lot to love about this futuristic adventure. Despite her run-in with the law, once she’s back on the streets she’s ready to run again and links up with some old friends and develops an instant friendly rivalry of sorts with a young up-and-comer. Of course, a job goes awry, and Faith finds herself embroiled in a fight against the city’s powerful conglomerate and sees her past come back to haunt her.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is now offered in as an open world platform. Rather than being dropped at a starting point and tasked with getting to point A,B or C, players have more freedom in how they approach the game. There’s a large city to explore. Fortunately, Catalyst’s massive open-world has enough distractions to make you overlook many of the game’s faults. However, this quickly wears a little thin when your mind focuses back on the actual game and not free running around roof tops!
Travelling between districts feels pretty cool, thanks to the way DICE create player movement through visual effects and sound design. Bolting through the city at an unbroken full speed!
Along with the main story, there are several side stories/quests to achieve, as well as tower climbing challenges! Which look and feel quite similar to another climbing block-buster game!!
In conclusion; Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a step up and definitely going open world was the most natural step in the right direction. However, it does become a tad bit boring after continued play and with all it’s impressive visual effects, it’s not enough to continue…
