ADIDAS has today launched a Real Madrid special, as part of its new First Never Follows film series. A number of players from Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League winning squad feature in the film, alongside manager Zinedine Zidane, as they shut down criticism off the pitch by performing on it.

The series – featuring bespoke films of some of the biggest clubs, players and managers in the world – provides a defiant response from a series of star players to the feverous gossip, debate and hype that surrounds each club in the build-up to the start of the 2016/17 season.

The film shows the squad, who made history in last season’s UEFA Champions League with la Undecima, arriving at a game amidst the clamour of hostile fans. Rather than confronting the ‘blah, blah blah’ off the pitch, the players let their performance on-pitch speak for itself, with Bale and Benzema teaming up to silence the hostile fans with a breath-taking goal, complete with Bale’s trademark ‘Road Runner’ feats on the way.


In the film, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Marcelo and James Rodriguez wear the new third kit for the coming season, as well as the new Speed of Light boots – the ACE 16+ PURECONTROL in Solar Yellow and X16+ PURECHAOS in Solar Red – which will be worn on pitch for the first time in the UEFA Super Cup on 9th August and for the start of the 2016/17 season.

The new Real Madrid third kit is a black colourway with purple accents. The design on the shoulders represents the road from the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium to the fountain of Cibeles, which the club’s passionate fan base will recognise well as the traditional victory route taken by the team to celebrate a trophy win. The Undecima coat of arms on the shirt celebrates the fact that Real Madrid was the first club to lift the UEFA Champions League eleven times.

The latest trailer film is a prelude for individual, bespoke films for each of adidas’ six largest clubs – Real Madrid, FC Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus and AC Milan – to be revealed from tomorrow. These films will feature adidas stars from across the six clubs and will also launch the third kits of each club for the coming season.

In the film, Paul Pogba can be seen wearing the new Solar Yellow ACE 16+ PURECONTROL, defiantly telling viewers not to believe everything they read in the papers.

Drawing inspiration from the club’s own tradition, the new away kit was designed to emphasize the tight bond between Juventus and Italy and to recall the blue jersey worn during the UEFA Champions League in 95/96 season. Hence the idea of the blue colour for the away jersey with a reinterpretation of an all-time classic in a most innovative way.

The away jersey 2016/17 comes with a two-toned blue design creating a dynamic effect which recalls the home jersey’s design.

A crew-neck model, the new away jersey features the adidas white logo on the right and the Juventus crest with three gold stars on the left. The iconic three stripes on the shoulders are white. The collar and the sleeve cuffs are black and white.

To complete the kit: white shorts with the adidas logo in blue and blue socks with white details.

The new away kit will be worn for the first time in one of the pre-season friendly match, during the Australian summer tour.

As UEFA EURO 2016TM moves into the knockout phase, adidas today unveiled the latest “First Never Follows” film in which legendary midfielder, Zinédine Zidane, is given the power to award ‘Firsts’.

Throughout the tournament, adidas has awarded Firsts to players who break new ground in the competition, from Gareth Bale’s 30 yard free-kick to Manuel Neuer’s fingertip save against Ukraine. As the spotlight on adidas’ star players increase, Zidane will now be the gatekeeper for awarding these Firsts moments.




Zidane is one of the most decorated players of all time and knows exactly what it takes to win, most recently becoming only the seventh person in history to win the UEFA Champions League as both a player and a coach. Now, he will be watching the closing stages of this summer’s tournament and making the ultimate decision about whether what happens on the pitch is worthy of First status. For each First moment, the player in question will be awarded with special badges on adidas’ social media channels.


The “First Never Follows” film, narrated by a young football fan, recounts some of Zidane’s most iconic moments on the pitch, including winning the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championships for his country, as well as scoring one of the all-time great goals in the final of the UEFA Champions League for Real Madrid.

ADIDAS today launched Fracas, the Official Match Ball of the UEFA EURO 2016TM knock-out phase and the ball that will decide who competes in – and ultimately wins – the tournament final on July 10th.



To launch the ball, adidas hosted an exclusive event at Cité de la Mode. The Fracas ball was unveiled as part of a 360o light show with thunderous sound effects, designed to emulate the atmosphere and feeling of being in the stadium during a knockout fixture of UEFA EURO 2016TM. Miralem Pjanic, who has just signed for Italian champions Juventus, was in attendance to reveal Fracas.


Some of Paris’ biggest talent from music, popular culture and fashion were also in attendance having previously worked with adidas to help with the naming of the ball. The name – which translates to ‘clamour’ in French – was chosen to encapsulate the drama and uncertainty associated with knock-out games. The unpredictability of the latter stages of a major tournament is also captured in the dynamic red and black design of Fracas.




Sam Handy, Vice President of Design, explained the thinking behind the new design: “For Fracas, we wanted to be bold with our design direction and create something that incorporated the emotions felt during the latter stages of tournament football. Beau Jeu was all about tactical football; doing what you had to do in order to get to the knock-out stages. Fracas is a more disruptive design. It represents the noise of the crowd and the excitement around a winner-takes-all mentality on the pitch.”



The structure which underpins both Fracas and Beau Jeu has been in development for over 18 months and takes the best elements of the Brazuca FIFA World Cup Official Match Ball, including the innovative panel shape. The two balls, which together will decide the winners of UEFA EURO 2016TM, feature improved surface structure and blocking, offering enhanced grip and in-flight visibility. During this development process, both balls have been tested independently by top players such as Gareth Bale and Iker Casillas.

Two-time UEFA Champions League winner and Welsh star man Gareth Bale is the latest player from adidas to feature in his own First Never Follows film, which was launched today ahead of Wales’ key clash with bitter rivals, England.




The film is narrated by a young football fan, who describes how Bale’s speed, power and swerve have made him one of the most revered talents in the modern game. Bale was instrumental in helping Wales qualify for their first UEFA European Championships and played a starring role in Real Madrid securing La Undecima last month.

With the UEFA EURO 2016 now underway, adidas has unveiled a stunning collection of photography of French midfielder, Paul Pogba. The imagery was captured by world-renowned photographer, Juergen Teller, who is widely recognised as one of the most influential photographers of his generation.


adidas commissioned Teller to travel alongside Pogba and document the football star in a mix of portrait and still life photography in the build-up to this summer’s tournament. The result is a raw and intimate portrait of the player – one of 21st Century football’s most dynamic and exciting personalities. The imagery also showcases a rare fusion of art, fashion and sport.



Included in the collection are a number of images of Pogba at the Juventus FC training ground, demonstrating his unique relationship with the ball. Known for his cool, off-kilter, informal point-and-shoot style, Teller also captured Pogba away from the football pitch. Shot at home as well as on the streets of Paris, with his brothers, the photography provides an exclusive snap shot into the life of one of footballs most interesting talents.



This photography project marks the latest collaboration between Pogba and adidas, who signed the 23-year-old star player for a long-term partnership in March 2016. At the time, Pogba was quoted as saying:


“This is the first sponsor contract I’ve signed and it’s a very important decision for me. I chose adidas because we have shared passions and values. adidas has the same vibe as I do, on and off the pitch.” He also added: “I love music, dance, and fashion, but my biggest passion is football, and I needed a brand that would give me the space to express myself and explore new frontiers. In adidas, I found a partner with the same goals as me.”


Teller, a respected art photographer represented at leading galleries internationally, as well as a contributor to publications as diverse as W Magazine, Vogue Paris, 032C, and System, is a contemporary legend with a signature aesthetic. The photographer is also an avid football fan and loyal supporter of both Bayern Munich and the German national team. He has published numerous editorial and books with a football focus.


Teller’s photographs will launch exclusively in a collection of publications, while a showcase and limited edition zine will debut in Paris during the UEFA EURO 2016.
