adidas has today revealed the Official Match Ball for the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League group stages. The ball, which will help decide the winners of the biggest prize in club football, has a striking new design featuring comments from adidas players on what winning means to them.

The hand written messages come from some of the game’s best players, including the likes of Mesut Ozil, Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale all saying how they win their way. “Play your life, I play mine”, says Ozil, with Toni Kroos contributing “controlling the game is everything”.  James Rodriguez says “la creatividad gana”, meaning “creativity wins” whereas Bale says “being faster than a bullet”.

The ball features white panels surrounded by green stars and is based on the design of the UEFA Champions League logo. The star panels contain an outer coating texture, consistent across all adidas UEFA Champions League Official Match Balls, to provide a seamless surface for optimal grip in varied conditions.

The Official Match Ball will be used in the adidas Gamedayplus series which returns for the new UEFA Champions League season. adidas Gamedayplus is hosted on adidas Football’s YouTube channel, featuring exclusive interviews, products and segments from the world’s best players and clubs.

The ball will be used on-pitch from 13th September 2016 up until 7th December 2016 and is available for purchase in selected adidas retail outlets, associated stockists and via http://www.adidas.com/football.

adidas has today launched a Manchester United special, as part of its new First Never Follows film series. The film launches the new third kit for Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge of the Red Devils as it plays on the media frenzy which has dominated his appointment and big name signings.

The series – featuring bespoke films of some of the biggest clubs, players and managers in the world – provides a defiant response from a series of star players to the feverous gossip, debate and hype that surrounds each club in the build-up to the start of the 2016/17 season.

Famous Manchester United fan and UK grime artist Stormzy opens the film by dismissing a billboard outside Old Trafford which has been vandalised by rival fans. The film then cuts to the team training and working hard for the season ahead, interspersed with parodies of typical pre-season television broadcasts as pundits become more and more frenzied about the club’s off-pitch news. The film closes with the team ready and focused for stepping out onto the pitch and the season ahead.

In the film, the players including David De Gea, Ander Herrera, Morgan Schneiderlin, Juan Mata and Luke Shaw also wear the new Speed of Light boots – the ACE 16+ PURECONTROL in Solar Yellow and X16+ PURECHAOS in Solar Red – which will be worn on pitch for the start of the 2016/17 season.

Adidas | Chance To Design The Third Jersey For Some Of The World’s Biggest Football Clubs

CreatorsStudio_PR_v3

adidas has today launched an initiative giving football fans around the world a unique Chance To Design The Third Jersey For Some Of The World’s Biggest Football Clubs.

Called the Creator Studio, the digital platform will give fans the chance to be responsible for the third shirts that will be worn by some of the best players in the world at Real Madrid, FC Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Juventus, AC Milan and Flamengo.

Fans will be able to upload and share their design online with their community through the Creator Studio, and use it as a platform to campaign for votes. Once the designs have been submitted the kits will enter Battle Mode, where fans will be given the chance to vote for their favourite kit. The kits with the most likes will be entered into a top 100 gallery per club.

The winning shirt for each team will be decided by a judging panel of some of the clubs’ most iconic players, with the winning kits going into production as the official third jersey to be worn on pitch by each team during the 2017/18 season.

Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale, said of the Creator Studio: “It’s an amazing opportunity for fans from all over the world to make their mark on their favourite club, and to be a part of the club’s history. Madrid fans are some of the most passionate in the world and I’m particularly excited to see what the club’s winning kit design looks like.”

This is the first time that adidas has put the design of its clubs’ kits into the hands of fans, providing supporters and aspiring designers with an opportunity to be a part of sporting history.

Markus Baumann, General Manager Football at adidas said: “We are giving people a blank canvas and allowing them to create something exciting and unique. The Creator Studio is an opportunity for fans to become part of the history of some of the biggest global clubs; it’s a true first. We hope the idea of seeing their design on field next year, being worn by the players and by fans around the world, will fuel imagination and creativity.”

The Creator Studio is a mobile-optimised experience, allowing fans to submit designs on the go as well as from desktop computers. The digital experience allows creators to design the jersey of each club but excludes the shorts or socks.

adidas have once again showcased its on-going commitment to industry leading product innovation with the launch of a limited edition update of the adidas adizero 99g, the world’s lightest football boot.

At around half the weight of a regular football boot, the adizero 99g boot features a 1mm polyamide outsole, designed to reduce weight whilst maintaining the rigidity to perform at the highest level, and advanced lightweight one-layer PU mesh-based upper material. The boot also features a skeleton inner-construction to maintain stability and support, whilst a unique stud layout ensures fastest possible movements in all directions.

Initially launched in 2015, the adizero 99g has been created in adidas’ adizero speed range and rigorously tested for tear strength and abrasions.

299 pairs of the limited edition boot are available to purchase from 3rd Aug 2016.

One obvious blunder by Adidas is sending us images showing Limited Edition to 1/500 clearly contradicting the 299 release on launch day.

The new third kit is white with silver accents, in a nod to the club’s European success, and is completed with a burgundy collar. The adidas three stripes have been moved from the shoulder to the side panels and the sleeves feature a subtle diamond pattern. The diamond pattern is echoed in the centre of the club’s crest and is a replication of the same pattern which appears on the flag of Bavaria, to showcase the club’s regional heritage.

The shirt also features the Bayern Munich motto “Mia san mia,” which translates as “We are who we are,” on the inside of the shirt’s collar.

The new kit is now available in the FC Bayern Munich online store, the adidas online shop (www.adidas.com/soccer) as well as in all FCB-Fan-Shops and in further retail.

The series – featuring bespoke films of some of the biggest clubs, players and managers in the world – provides a defiant response from a series of star players to the feverous gossip, debate and hype that surrounds each club in the build-up to the start of the 2016/17 season.

The film features an opposition fan – wearing a jacket with ‘ANTI JUVE’ on the back and an owl which is considered bad luck in Italy – imploring Juventus to lose and reacting angrily when the club scores. During the film, the players use the fan’s negativity to buoy their own performances, and demonstrate the on-pitch craftsmanship that shows they’re ready to take on succeed again in the 2016/17 season.

The film launches the new Juventus third kit which the team will be wearing for the coming season. The adidas three stripes have been moved from the sleeves to the side of the jersey. The sleeves feature a striking zebra pattern, a reference to the club’s nickname ‘Le Zebre’. As an eye-catching contrast to the home kit for 2016/17 which is predominantly black, the third kit is primarily white.

The players in the film also debut the new Speed of Light boots – the ACE 16+ PURECONTROL in Solar Yellow and X16+ PURECHAOS in Solar Red – which will be worn on pitch for the start of the 2016/17 season.

adidas has today launched a new film starring Diego Costa, Oscar, Nemanja Matic, Gary Cahill, Kenedy and Ruben Loftus-Cheek of Chelsea, as part of its First Never Follows film series ahead of the new Premier League season.

The series – featuring bespoke films of some of the biggest clubs, players and managers in the world – provides a defiant response from a series of star players to the feverous gossip, debate and hype that surrounds each club in the build-up to the start of the 2016/17 season.

The film features an angry London taxi driver who, upon seeing Costa on his way to training, unreservedly shares his opinion and criticism of the club and its players in a manner typical of rival fans in pre-season. The film then cuts to the players working hard to prepare themselves for the 2016/17 season with a series of skills and training drills, effectively dispelling all of his criticism and misplaced views.

The film launches the new Chelsea third kit – an all-white strip featuring a large embossed lion on the sleeve. It includes the classic adidas three stripes on the side panels in Chelsea blue, two different coloured crests, and a tailored “Chelsea FC“ collar tape.
