adidas Football has today released a brand film starring German playmaker Mesut Ozil to support the launch of its new Red Limit collection. The Red Limit Collection features the new ACE17+ PURECONTROL which introduces industry-leading BOOST technology for the first time in a football boot.
Mesut Ozil has been in fine form this season, but in the film, he encourages young footballers to express themselves and forge their own path, rather than try and follow his. In response to his skills, tricks and assists, the voiceover in the film – delivered from the point of view of a young aspiring football fan – defiantly tells Ozil he doesn’t want to be anything like him, he just wants his boots.
The ACE 17+ PURECONTROL is part of the Red Limit Collection, which also features street and cage versions of each silo. Ozil will wear the ACE 17+ PURECONTROL on-pitch from today.
adidas Football launch the Red Limit ACE 16+ UltraBOOST. The shoe brings together the best from adidas Football and adidas Running and is the latest product to be released as part of the Limited Collection.
In the Red Limit ACE 16+ UltraBOOST, a black Primeknit upper and red heel counter from adidas Football’s ACE 16+ PURECONTROL – the world’s first high-performance laceless football boot – are merged with industry leading BOOST technology used in adidas Running products, to deliver a sleek look along with optimum comfort.
The limited edition release is part of the wider Red Limit Collection which includes the ACE 17+ PURECONTROL and X16 on-pitch, cage and street silos, as well as the MESSI 16 and will be available to purchase in limited numbers from adidas.com.

adidas Football has today announced the launch of its Red Limit collection with a brand new film starring Paul Pogba. The collection introduces the brand new ACE 17+ PURECONTROL which brings the brand’s BOOST technology to football for the first time. In another first, the Red Limit collection also features a street adaption of each silo, allowing players to take their game from the stadium, to the cage, to the street.
The launch film urges aspiring young footballers to focus on creating their own path, rather than emulating their heroes. A voiceover from a young player declares that he is not interested in mimicking the style of the professionals; he just wants their boots so he has the tools to create for himself. The film stars Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, who will wear the Red Limit ACE 17+ PURECONTROL.
The Red Limit ACE 17+ PURECONTROL features a 360 degree fully PRIMEKNIT upper to ensure zero wear-in time and is protected by an ultrathin NSG (Non Stop Grip) film to provide ultimate levels of grip. The laceless PURECUT sock system is designed to eliminate overlays between the foot and the ball for ultimate control whilst the unique sock construction, which is formed of an internal lock-down system, offers premium comfort.
The ACE 17+ PURECONTROL’s newest feature sees the introduction of adidas Running’s BOOST technology. The BOOST cushioning is made up of thousands of unique foam balls and features along the boot’s SPRINTFRAME and sock liner. The end result returns more energy than conventional midsoles and delivers unrivalled levels of comfort.
The Red Limit collection continues with the launch of the Red Limit ACE 17+ PURECONTROL Cage version. Featuring the same black and red colourway as the on-pitch silo, the cage version features a PRIMEKNIT upper with a layer of NSG film to provide ultimate control. A stretchable layer of TECHFIT material is placed between the black and red colour blocks to optimise comfort, whilst a red EVA strip features above the heel’s BOOST to offer stability. Unlike the on-pitch boot, the cage version features BOOST on the heel only, designed to offer comfort, stability and energy return on a hard surface, where it matters most in cage football.
The ACE 17+ PURECONTROL Street version completes the Red Limit collection. Inspired by the street, the shoe features a sleek all-black colourway with red details and is predominantly constructed with a PRIMEMESH material for a lifestyle-focused look. A TECHFIT colour coating covers the three stripes whilst a full-length BOOST midsole enhances the lifestyle look whilst offering energy return.
Dean Lokes, Vice President of product adidas Football, said: “The Red Limit collection is the first time we’ve gone from the stadium to the street in the same collection. We’ve introduced a range of boots in on-pitch, cage and street silos so you can perform as well off the pitch as you can on it. The introduction of adidas’ leading BOOST technology highlights our constant desire to innovate within the sport and our endless drive to produce game-changing footwear for all types off footballers; wherever they play the game”.

Further to adidas’s recent Rugby launch of the ‘Elements Pack’, bolding a striking update to its industry leading Superlight range.
The four models in the range, specifically designed for each position on the field, have received a graphical treatment inspired by the natural elements Earth, Fire, Ice and Wind.
The adipower Kakari Force is the ultimate boot for the tight-five and features the element of Earth, symbolising the strength and stability needed to dominate the scrum. The Kakari Light, made for loose forwards, is on fire and reflects the explosive power shown by players such as Kieran Read and Sam Warburton when they are first to the breakdown.
Predator Malice featuring the ice graphic has been developed for kicking backs such as Beauden Barrett, who are renown for being cool under pressure. Completing the lineup is the CrazyQuick Malice featuring a wind graphic indicative of the speed and illusivness of outside backs like Antony Watson and Sonny Bill Williams.
The Elements Pack made it’s debut at Soilder Field in Chicago when the World Champion All Blacks lost out to Ireland for the very first time (111 years to be precise!).
Ireland’s Johnny Sexton wore the Predator Malice with devastating fashion; kicking superbly and finishing with 10 points before injury ended his game early.
The range will be stocked at adidas stores and major sporting goods retailers, rugby retailers worldwide, as well as online at www.adidas.com from December 1st. Pricing starts at £35 RRP for junior boots to £150 RRP for elite models.
adidas today reveals its latest global brand campaign starring Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, ahead of the on-air debut during The Red Devils’ match versus Liverpool tonight.
The new film, titled Football Needs Creators, follows Pogba’s journey beginning with shaping his own reality as a child in Roissey-en-Brie to his groundbreaking return to Old Trafford.
Featuring voiceover from his mother, the campaign shows how Pogba has always done the unexpected and serves as a call to players around the world to harness their own creativity to think, act and perform in new and unique ways.
“Creativity has always been the difference maker for Paul Pogba in all facets of his life, on and off the pitch,” said Ryan Morlan, adidas’ VP of Brand Communications. “Since childhood, his imagination has been the catalyst to defying the norm in the world of football. Pogba’s story mirrors our belief that creativity will take you further than your mind or body alone. There is only one Pogba, but all athletes can look to him for inspiration to use one’s own creativity to make new rules in their sport.”
Football Needs Creators is the latest chapter of the adidas SPORT 16 campaign that builds upon the belief that all athletes are #HereToCreate. The new spot follows the recent launch of Sport Needs Creators featuring Pogba, Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller of the Denver Broncos, two-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, 2015 National League Rookie of the Year Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs, four-time NBA All-Star James Harden of the Houston Rockets, rookie guard Moriah Jefferson of the San Antonio Stars, and top NBA Draft selections Brandon Ingram of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics and Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets.
