Multi-Directional Speed Evolves With The Velocita³

Don’t Get Caught – the simple objective for any attacking player who needs to be fleet-footed on the pitch and quick-thinking with their decision-making in order to make their mark on the game. It’s not just about quick feet, but the mental agility to go with it so you can react to any situation, bamboozle your opponent and find that moment of space in the game to make a real difference.

Don’t Get Caught is also the philosophy behind the Velocita³, the latest evolution in Umbro’s speed boot silo. The new Velocita³ football boot offers comfort and fit through a special tri-layer construction on the upper, combined with an outsole designed to offer traction, agility and acceleration, to deliver a speed boot for people who don’t just want to run in straight lines.

Multi-directional speed is the ultimate aim of the Don’t Get Caught philosophy, something the Velocita³ offers in a lightweight boot that will keep the wearer comfortable and confident. We’re not saying that the Velocita³ will turn you into a world beater overnight – but it will help to make the most of the skills you’ve got.

The idea behind Don’t Get Caught has also been captured in a film accompanying the release of the boot, where amateur players from the University of Salford’s football team are challenged to show their speed of thought and physical prowess.

They do so in the Don’t Get Caught Challenge, a specially-constructed game zone that throws together playground classic British Bulldogs, dodgeball and high-intensity football training drills in a challenge that would test any player.

Salford City co-manager Anthony Johnson is on hand to put the players through their paces, before the best of the bunch face West Ham United’s Michail Antonio in a final competition to find an ultimate winner of the Don’t Get Caught Challenge.

West Ham United attacker Antonio – a player who perfectly captures the Don’t Get Caught philosophy with his combination of speed, strength and unpredictability – will be one of the first players to debut the Velocita³ on the pitch. Speaking about the boot, Michail said:

‘I’ve been looking forward to wearing this boot ever since the guys at Umbro first showed it to me – it looks great, is really comfortable to wear and lets me play the game how I like to. I like to think that I’m an unpredictable player and the Velocita³ helps to give me the confidence to try things on the pitch.

“I absolutely loved being involved in the video as well – the challenges are a brilliant way to test your quick reactions and ability – I’d love to give this a go in our training sessions!’

The Velocita³ boot has a number of features designed to offer the multi-directional speed demanded by the Don’t Get Caught philosophy.

These include:

  • Neoprene mesh in the rearfoot and airmesh in the forefoot provide a responsive fit and comfort

  • Heat-welded cage in the mid-foot area develops Umbro’s A-frame design to offer support and stability, reducing excess foot movement

  • TPU outer skin ensures maximum durability and a close touch sensation on the ball

  • Umbro’s speed outsole offers agility, traction and acceleration thanks to a unique combination of conical and diamond-shaped studs

  • Three-layer design is showcased in an eye-catching Dawn Blue / Carbon / Fiery Red / Spectra Green launch colourway

The new Velocita³ boot is launched in a Dawn Blue / Carbon / Fiery Red / Spectra Green colourway, with further updates to come in early 2017.
