The new British & Irish Lions kit was revealed in spectacular fashion today as a giant ‘untouchable’ jersey hologram appeared over the London city-scape.

Commuters across the Capital were left stunned as they came face-to-face with the giant hologram on the Southbank while British & Irish Lions Head Coach, Warren Gatland, was on hand to celebrate this milestone on the journey to the 2017 Lions Tour to New Zealand.

Canterbury’s stunt marked the launch of the jersey that will be worn by the British & Irish Lions players in the highly anticipated Tour. The jersey has been positioned as ‘untouchable’ until players have earned the right to wear it with a call up to the Lions Squad.

Warren Gatland, Head Coach of the British & Irish Lions, said: “To see the jersey projected like that was great. The Lions jersey is iconic and for it to be unveiled in such a different and unique was for the public was very special.”

The match jersey features new innovations to give Lions players the edge, including the introduction of water resistant technology for the winter conditions they can expect.

Fans will also benefit from many of the new innovations which feature across the Pro and Classic replica versions of the jersey, introduced by Canterbury to cater for the different demands and needs of British & Irish Lions supporters.

Available to purchase today, the Pro jersey features Vaposhield technology and the same styling as the match jersey worn by the players but cut with a straighter fit, while the Classic version specifically incorporates Vapodri technology and a relaxed fit for added supporter comfort.

An identical version of the match jersey worn by the players in New Zealand will be made available in 2017 as a bespoke piece of sporting memorabilia to keep as a once-in-a-life time collectors’ item.

Describing the launch of the new jersey, Canterbury CEO Chris Stephenson said; “Canterbury are proud to be the first brand to reveal the new British & Irish Lions match jersey in a truly ‘untouchable’ way. No player past or present will touch the jersey until they have been selected to represent the Lions. Our campaign plays with this insight by challenging fans to follow in the players’ footsteps and keep their hands off the jersey until the squad is announced in April.”

“Canterbury has over 110 years of experience in rugby and, like the British & Irish Lions, understands how important this jersey is to the players that wear it on the pitch and the supporters who wear it in the stands.”

PUMA & FIGC (the Italian Football Association) revealed the design of the new Italy away kit yesterday with a modern anarmorphic approach.  As the sun rose across Southern Italy, renowned artists 3D Joe & Max were hard at work painting a large mural of Marco Verratti, Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini wearing the new kit, with a 3D effect that drew a big crowd in Bari’s Piazza del Ferrarese.

This new shirt for the next era of Italian football will be worn for the first time on pitch when Italy play France in Bari tomorrow night.

As Gli Azzurri look ahead to the qualification campaign for the 2018 FIFA World CupTM under the new leadership of Gian Piero Ventura, this new Italy away kit has a new innovative design to mark this next footballing chapter.

The secondary colour to the traditional white moves away from azzurri blue to navy – visible underneath the v neck collar, sleeves and bottom of the shirt with a carbon fibre sublimation print that carries an essence of speed and power.  A structured jacquard graphic is derived from the FIGC crest with a dynamic chevron effect on the chest, keeping the nucleus of Italian flair but with a fresh energetic design.

Longer sleeves complete the sleek and modern look.  Furthermore, the shirt has a similar broad design to the 2006 away kit to mark the 10th anniversary of Italy winning the FIFA World Cup in Berlin.

Joe Hill of 3D Joe & Max added, “Italy is such an icon of world football, it was a real honour to create this 3D Street Artwork to show the new shirt design.  PUMA has great vision for unveiling new products and is a brand we admire for that, we were very happy to give Bari and Italy a taste of our work and hope they enjoy it.”

The 3D mural will remain in Piazza del Ferrarese for the next two days, as Italian fans gather ahead of the friendly game against France tomorrow night.  #ForeverItalia

The 3D rose placed on an individual patch acknowledges the tradition from 1871-1919 when new England players would embroider an individual rose onto their shirt, before it was said to be standardised by Alfred Wright in 1920.

For the first time a new custom fit women’s home kit was launched by England Women players Rochelle Clark, Lydia Thompson and Vicky Fleetwood.  The new kit, specifically designed to meet to the physical requirements of female athletes, will be worn for the new season as well as the Women’s Rugby World Cup campaign next summer in Ireland which England Women are current title holders of.

The home kit features a range of innovations that have been developed by Canterbury to improve the look and feel for both players and fans alike. The shirt continues to feature reduced fabrication weight to minimise moisture absorption, a 3D injection moulded crest and a super-enhanced fit technology, developed from player position-specific 3D body-mapping.

Speaking about the new shirt, England Head Coach Eddie Jones said; “We’re always striving to improve every area of our preparation and performance so it’s great to work with an innovative brand like Canterbury who share our philosophy.

“Since starting as England head coach I have been impressed with Canterbury’s attention to detail and their commitment to working alongside the team to ensure the best possible match day kit and training apparel. The new strip looks good, but most importantly supports our needs as a team to help our performances to be world class.”

Discussing the launch of the new England Rugby shirt, Canterbury CEO, Chris Stephenson, said; The new England shirt demonstrates Canterbury’s unwavering commitment to England Rugby. We’re devoted to delivering the latest innovation and developing a rugby kit that not only suits the needs of players at the elite level of the game, but also the committed fans across the country who make a huge contribution to the success of the team.

Over the past seven days, Canterbury and England Rugby have teased fans with various glimpses of the innovation in the shirt through Facebook and Twitter before revealing the full kit in an exclusive Facebook Live earlier today.  As well as unveiling the shirt for the first time, players took those watching on a special behind the scenes tour of Twickenham Stadium showing different areas of the stadium including the gym, home changing room and tunnel.

To mark the launch Hartley, Mike Brown and James Haskell have provided an insight into their individual rugby stories, showing the commitments they’ve made for the game and the challenges they have faced to become an England player. adidas Launches Juventus Film as part of First Never Follows Film Series

adidas has today launched a unique Juventus film starring Miralem Pjanic, Paulo Dybala, Alex Sandro, Giorgio Chiellinin and other members of the squad, as part of its new First Never Follows film series.

03 JUVENTUS

The series – featuring bespoke films of some of the biggest clubs, players and managers in the world – provides a defiant response from a series of star players to the feverous gossip, debate and hype that surrounds each club in the build-up to the start of the 2016/17 season.

The film features an opposition fan – wearing a jacket with ‘ANTI JUVE’ on the back and an owl which is considered bad luck in Italy – imploring Juventus to lose and reacting angrily when the club scores. During the film, the players use the fan’s negativity to buoy their own performances, and demonstrate the on-pitch craftsmanship that shows they’re ready to take on succeed again in the 2016/17 season.

The film launches the new Juventus third kit which the team will be wearing for the coming season. The adidas three stripes have been moved from the sleeves to the side of the jersey. The sleeves feature a striking zebra pattern, a reference to the club’s nickname ‘Le Zebre’. As an eye-catching contrast to the home kit for 2016/17 which is predominantly black, the third kit is primarily white.

The players in the film also debut the new Speed of Light boots – the ACE 16+ PURECONTROL in Solar Yellow and X16+ PURECHAOS in Solar Red – which will be worn on pitch for the start of the 2016/17 season.

adidas has today launched the new Manchester United third kit for the 2016/17 season, taking inspiration from the club’s early years as Newton Heath LYR Football Club.

[slideshow_deploy id=’3955’]

The new kit pays homage to the club’s illustrious history in which it rose from humble beginnings as a local railway workers’ team to become the biggest and best known football club in the world. The transformation from their humble beginnings to the globally renowned “Red Devils” is represented through each of the new 2016/17 kits.

The white kit with black accents takes inspiration from the City of Manchester’s Coat of Arms which features a worker bee, a symbol of the city’s history as a leading-light at the forefront of the UK’s industrial heritage. adidas has incorporated this symbolism into the new design as a Badge of Honour to demonstrate that, through hard work, a ‘never say die’ attitude and audacious football, Manchester United have evolved to become pioneers of the international football game. In continuously striving for greatness and success, Manchester United have become the world‘s best supported football club.

Alongside the replica jersey, there is also an authentic shirt available – as worn by the players -, a long-sleeved version and shirts specifically for children and women.

The kit will be worn in the club’s first way game of the season against Bournemouth on Sunday 14th August.

The film features an angry London taxi driver who, upon seeing Costa on his way to training, unreservedly shares his opinion and criticism of the club and its players in a manner typical of rival fans in pre-season. The film then cuts to the players working hard to prepare themselves for the 2016/17 season with a series of skills and training drills, effectively dispelling all of his criticism and misplaced views.

The new Everton away strip is a modern design inspired by two colours from one of Everton’s most historic kits – the striking dark navy and salmon trim strip is a nod to the 1890/91 season when the Toffee’s captured their first ever league crown.

[slideshow_deploy id=’3851’]

The lightweight jersey is predominantly dark navy with a salmon colour on the inside layer offering a striking visual contrast. The eye-catching salmon also features on the cuffs and V-neck part rib collar.

Diamond mesh technology on the main body of the shirt aids breathability, along with under-arm panels aid ventilation and movement.

Accompanying the jersey, the dark navy shorts have a tailored silhouette with a reduced volume waistband offering optimum comfort and fit. Contrast back detailing in salmon features alongside the Club and Umbro logos.

The dark navy socks feature a contrast salmon hoop and Umbro logo with a cotton footbed provides optimum comfort for 90 minutes and beyond.

Like this season’s home strip, the away shirt celebrates the Club’s historic ground and includes the co-ordinates of Goodison Park inside the neck of the shirt.

The iconic signature of Archibald Leitch’s criss-cross architectural design also features, with Umbro including a Leitch-style graphic above the co-ordinates, so fans and players will have a piece of home with them wherever they go.

Speaking about the new away strip, Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu said: “I feel very confident in this kit and cannot wait for the new season to be able to wear it. The design is nice and I really like it. Deulofeu jokingly added: “I hope to see the fans with my name on their shirts next season!”

Everton’s 2016/17 away kit is available to pre-order now* in men’s, women’s, juniors, infants and babies’ sizes. It will go on sale on 22nd July.
